Danilo Tagle is currently Director, Office of Special Initiatives at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where he coordinates efforts towards developing microphysiological systems or organs on chips. He also coordinates efforts on 3D bioprinting for drug discovery and development, on automated chemistry, on the use of electronic nose technology for disease diagnosis, and the clinical utility of secreted RNA in exosomes for biomarker and therapy development. Prior to joining NCATS in 2012, Dan was a program director for neurogenetics at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS, NIH), where he was involved in developing programs concerning genomics-based approaches for basic and translational research in inherited brain disorders. Prior to joining NINDS in 2001, Dan was an investigator and section head of molecular neurogenetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI, NIH) and has been involved in the highly collaborative effort toward the positional cloning of genes for Huntington’s disease, ataxia-telangiectasia and Niemann-Pick disease type C. Dr. Mihail Lucian Birsa is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the same university in 1995. He joined the master program at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi in 1995, and in 2000 was awarded a Ph. D. degree in Organic Chemistry. From 2000 to 2002, he was a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Professor Samuel Braverman at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. In 2003 he was selected as a member of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, working with Professor Henning Hopf in TU Braunschweig - Germany. Since then numerous return fellowships were granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

He graduated in both Chemistry (1976) and Physics (1977) at UnB. Professor Morais is member of the Brazilian Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – IEEE. He has served as referee for more than 50 technical journals, takes part of the Editorial Board of more than 15 technical journals and has conducted research on nanomaterials for over 40 years. He has delivered 170 Invited Talks all over the World. He is known for his research in preparation, characterization and applications of nanosized materials (magnetic fluid, magnetoliposome, magnetic nanoemulsion, magnetic nanocapsule, magnetic nanofilm, magnetic nanocomposite, nanosized semiconductors, polymeric dots, carbon dots, and graphene quantum dots). With about 500 published papers in peer reviewed journals, more than 12,500 citations and 16 patents, he has appeared in recent World ranking of top scientists, such as 2020-Stanford, 2022-Research.com, 2023-AD Scientific Index, and 2023-Research.com.

Dimitrios P. Nikolelis received his PhD from University of Athens in 1976 and he is a professor of analytical and environmental chemistry in Department of Chemistry, University of Athens. Prof. Dimitrios Nikolelis has coordinated 3 European Projects on environmental biosensors (CIPA96-0231, IC15-CT96-0804 and QLK3-2000-01311). He also was twice a. NATO Director in the following Advanced Research Workshops: 1. Biosensors for Direct Monitoring of Environmental Pollutants in Field, Smolenice, Slovakia,: May 1996 and 2. Portable biosensors for the Rapid Detection of Biochemical Weapons of Terrorism, July 2012. Prof. Dimitrios Nikolelis has over 200 scientific papers in scientific journals and conferences. Prof. D. P. Nikolelis group has recently utilized graphene and ZnO to develop chemical nanosensors based on polymer lipid films for species of clinical or food significance such as urea, uric acid, cholesterol, etc. In progress, there is the evaluation and validation of nanosensors that are based on stabilized polymerized lipid films supported on glass fiber filters using a dry spot test using optical methods of analysis (i.e., fluorescence) to detect environmental pollutants such as insecticides, plant hormones, toxins, hydrazines, etc.

He has 30 years’ experience in transfusion medicine, most of the time as expert in clinical transfusion but with very good experience in therapeutic apheresis and donor apheresis, as well as, blood component therapy. From few years ago introduced irradiation of blood components in Serbia, in Novi Sad, and most of the blood components that are irradiated are for oncology, hematology, in adults and children. He is more than 15 years dealing with Siberian natural products, some Chinese, one African and one South American. All are extremely effective and helpful.
